2 down 2 more to go

The men's teams had better win their golds.

1 down 3 to go

There were four medals ear marked for Canada. The curling women's team have delivered. Their hockey counterparts are very likely to do the same. The men deliver suspense and tension.
Yesterday, a puny team as compared to Team Canada put up the greatest fight of its history. The Latvian goalie's dream to be at the net when hockeys giants shoot the puck at him, came true. I can't begin to imagine how thrilled he must feel this morning. Winning isn't everything. And who better to say that than him.

Team Canada, however, has to win.

Things to do

I did not do any of the above.

But played some good games.

Things to do today.

It is Sunday brunch at Occasions. The rest of the day is clear. No specific commitments. And that means I have house chores. Next weekend I have neighbours over for a belated family day lunch.

So here goes. This week I want my place to be basically tidy before the cleaners.
Tidy up
Laundry

Build desk
Sort and organise in dining area.

Upma with carrots and peas

This is the base recipe for Upma as I make it. I am going to create variations on it and blog it. So here goes.

Roast semolina until you get a flavourful smell - khamang: one of those untranslatable words. Transfer to bowl.

Pop mustard seeds, turmeric and asafoetida in oil. Add curry leaves, chopped green chilies, chopped onions and urad dal (for that nice crunch). When onions appear to be getting translucent add salt, sliced ginger, dessicated coconut and frozen carrot-pea mix. Add extra cayenne if necessary.

Stir fry for a few minutes and then add a few tablespoons of yoghurt and water. Bring to a boil.

Add the roasted semolina. Stir and allow the mixture to thicken without forming lumps.

Garnish with coriander leaves and coconut.

And voila. Upma.

Compliment

I have been playing squash for the past two years.

TIP: If you can safely break through the novice threshold, you are set until you have to break through the next one.

Today a fellow player complimented me. He observed that my game today is far superior than that when we last played six months ago.

Looks like I have slid through. He beat me but did he have to fight. The games were 13-11 or 14-12.

Earlier this year I played in a tournament. I lost the games but, get this, I improved with each match. Looking forward to the club championships.

Can I blog?

Can I blog? So far the answer has been a clear negative. This time I am going to subvert that response. So here goes.
